Meet Your Instructors
Angela Huang nia
As an energetic and positive individual a career as a fitness instructor was a natural path for Angela. However, after 10 years of aerobics she began to feel that she was capable of obtaining more out of her workouts. Feeling as though she had hit a wall with the physical body routine her conditioned eyes came across a poster advertising a Mind/Body/Spirit workout session with the founders of NIA, Carlos and Debbie Rosas.
After participating in one class Angela knew something truly amazing had taken place and could hardly put her shoes and socks back on because of the excitement to learn and share this technique. Totally blown away with the amount of physical and mental stimulation she had just felt she rushed to sign up for the soonest possible training session.
Angela has been a certified NIA Instructor since 1993 and is now a black belt and looks forward to sharing and celebrating you through movement. >

Julie Schlemmer yoga
Julie started practicing yoga while living in Portland, Oregon in the 1990’s. A long distance runner at the time, she knew she would need to find something that would counteract the beating that running was having on her body. She began taking Hatha yoga classes at a local gym and was instantly hooked. Not only did she feel better physically but she began to realize that yoga is a truly holistic way of life; one that would take her to new levels of knowledge about herself and the world around her. Through time, yoga alleviated Julie’s chronic hip and foot pain; however, learning to understand how yoga helps us find our true nature is the main reason she’s stayed with it. Julie truly believes that yoga balances us; physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. With time and patience, understanding and commitment, it will make you whole.

Seeking a system of yoga that would help her align her physical body with the divine goodness she felt inside, she began studying Anusara Yoga with Rowan Silverberg in Cleveland, Ohio in 2004. Jennifer later expanded her studies in this lineage with Jamie and Justin Allison.
Currently, Jennifer is continuing her studies of Anusara Yoga and is deepening her meditation practice with Tenshin Reb Anderson Roshi of the San Francisco Zen Center. Erin Pickus yoga
Physical movement expressed through the art of dance is Erin’s life long passion. As a child, Erin pursued this passion by taking classes in ballet, tap, jazz and acrobatics at Sharon’s School of Dance in Twinsburg, Ohio. But it was the mental challenge and physical thrill of acrobatics that drew Erin into competitive gymnastics, both as a high school student and USGA competitor, then later, as a Competitive Trainer and Preschool Gymnastics Instructor at Elite Gymnastics, then Kidspace Gymnastics in Cleveland.
Sometime near the end of her eight year coaching career, a friend took Erin to a yoga class, and it was soon after taking that class that Erin realized yoga was the right path for her. As a student of yoga, Erin discovered a new sense of peace, balance, and harmony. For Erin, there is no better way to share and help others discover the benefits of yoga, than to learn as much as one can about yoga and become a certified teacher. In 2004, under Jan Hauenstein’s guidance and 200hr. Teacher Training, Erin became certified in teaching Hatha Yoga. Erin continually seeks knowledge in the art of yoga by attending various workshops and teacher training seminars. The various workshops she attended include trainings in hands-on adjustments, pranayama, and anusara yoga.
Erin brings to her classes her knowledge and inspires her students by offering them a nurturing and safe environment in which to participate and learn. She uses her experiences and knowledge to teach her students correct body alignment through creative sequencing while focusing mainly on the breath. Erin believes it is more important for her students to learn how to link the breath with their movements than to master a challenging pose.
Erin currently resides in Solon, Ohio, with her husband, Hal, and their two sons, Drew and Aden. To Erin, yoga has become more than a practice, but a lifetime devotion to grow in faith, love and self-realization.
